Silent Spring by Rachel Carson
Rachel Carson's Silent Spring is one of the most well-known environmental books. When it was first published in 1962, it was the first of its kind, bringing to light the tragic impacts of a popular pesticide at the time, DDT. It brought the issue to the American public that weren't aware of what was happening. Her book helped to start a petition that lead to a nation-wide ban on the use of DDT for agricultural uses. It also started a movement that lead to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Father's Day Chair Making Course
The Kent High Went Partnership (HKWP) is hosting a chair making work shop in the forest. It will take place in their forest school in Bedgbury Pinetum and each ticket is for two people. Each pair works together to build a chair that you can take home filled with memories of the day. The workshop includes all of the materials to make the chair as well as a campfire lunch and hot drinks with biscuits. Free parking is available, and the workshop runs from 10am - 2:30 pm on the 15th June 2024.
