Sub-metallic strength and style

Each piece comes with a tungsten carbide carbon finish that is scratch resistant and nine times stronger than stainless steel. Its incredibly strong sub-metallic surface boasts unrivalled scratch resistance and sleek, precision-design smooth parts that hardly ever need to be maintained, let alone replaced.

We tend to do two releases per year, and when they launch they don't last long.

BENEATH THE SURFACE

Aesthetically, Black Steel rivals the exotic look of Damascus steel or titanium, with a sub-metallic lustre that reveals a glimmer of the steel beneath the surface.

But it doesn’t just catch the eye. Our Black Steel finish also serves a vital purpose in protecting your item for the long haul.

TUNGSTEN CARBIDE CARBON

It’s applied using a technology called "magnetron sputtering", which is as cool as it sounds and involves a deposition method usually reserved for luxury watches and military-grade tools, and coats the metal surface with vaporised Tungsten Carbide Carbon.

3.5X HARDER THAN TITANIUM

The 3um thick surface has a Vickers hardness of 1200 VPN, 9x harder than stainless steel and 3.5x harder than titanium. The carbon layer also minimises surface friction to < 0.1, ensuring all mechanisms are silky smooth.
