SELECTED WORKS: JET FUEL

As part of our exploration into new materials and finishes we came across JET FUEL.

In the same ultra-hard technical coating family as Black Steel, it has a titanium-based refractive surface giving an iridescent petrol coloured finish with subtle colour variations depending on component geometry and the angle light refracts from it. This is one of the most unique coatings we've ever had the pleasure of working with and has a great balance between aesthetics and performance. The 1 micron thick technical coating is 10x harder than stainless steel, making it virtually scratch-proof and built to last the distance.

Released as part of a limited SELECTED WORKS collection, this will be made in limited runs. If unavailable, join the mailing list for a heads up on the next release.

BUILT TO LAST LONGER

The Jet Fuel coating gives a unique finish to our stainless steel pieces. While the base stainless steel is already built to last a lifetime, Jet Fuel is virtually scratch-proof, giving a technical finish that stands out.

TITANIUM-BASED PETROL SHINE

Jet Fuel is applied using a technology we love called "magnetron sputtering", usually reserved for military and medical-grade tools. It increases the life and abrasive resistance of your tools by depositing a fine layer of titanium on the steel components in a vacuum chamber at just below 450C.

10x HARDER THAN STAINLESS STEEL

With a Vickers hardness of 2000Hv Jet Fuel is 10x harder than stainless steel, whilst a thickness of approximately 1µm allows the finish on the base material to show through to give a stunning show of colour as it catches the light.
