These items are blasted with 80 micron fused alumina particles at 100m/s to give them a fine, uniform matte finish. Fused alumina or aluminium oxide is second only on hardness to diamond.

The particles are accelerated up to ~100m/second and blasted across the surface to give a uniform, matte textured finish to the material. It’s soft to the touch and has a much darker finish compared to our machined titanium.

Both finishes will darken a little over time as they develop a protective oxidised coating, and the matte texture in particular will pick up scratches and marks with use to give that hallmark titanium aesthetic.
