The Everyday Pack by Wingback is a 21-litre capacity, weatherproof, planet-friendly waxed cotton backpack. Handmade in England and built with absolutely zero compromises on quality, every feature has been refined to make it a joy to use, while ensuring it will stand up to the daily rigours of a life well lived. Its main clam shell pocket allows for easy packing and access to everything all at once. A padded 16" laptop pocket can be repurposed for a hydration bladder on your weekend hike. An internal sleeve and gusseted zipped pocket fits a tablet or notebook, along with other valuables. A front zipped pocket, split into three sections for improved organisation, provides access to frequently used items straight off the shoulder. Finally, reinforced halo webbing doubles as easy grab handles and points to fit detachable straps for external storage or support. Choose from five inner colours and three bespoke, knurled zip puller options to make it your own.

  • Outer: 100% organic, fluorocarbon-free waxed cotton from Dundee, Scotland.

Inner: Reinforced ripstop cotton and closed cell foam padding from Dundee, Scotland.

Buckles: AustriAlpin COBRA® aluminium buckles and clips from Fulpmes, Austria.

Zips: YKK No10 reverse coil zips from Tokyo, Japan.

Pullers: Aerospace grade brass or stainless steel, CNC machined in Birmingham, England.

Packaging: Reinforced cotton tote bag from Dundee, Scotland.

  • Capacity: 21 litres

    Dimensions: 46 x 30 x 15 cm

    Weight: 1.25kg (2.75lb)

Considerations: At 21 litres, the Everyday Pack provides enough room for your daily commute or weekend escape. It is carry-on ready, compact enough to fit under the plane seat in front of you or in the overhead lockers, and adjustable shoulder straps will ensure one size fits all. The waxed cotton outer will protect its contents from the elements but best to keep it overhead if you plan to wade across any rivers.

Impossible to clean …. Not fit for purpose.

I have quite a bit of wingback kit (1 pen, 2 pencils, pen stand and key fobs etc) and trusted this would be a similarly robust piece of kit but sadly it’s not functional or fit for purpose;

1. The wax cloth (great material in principle) can’t be cleaned. I got some cream on it and it is now effectively stained. Despite sponging it I can’t improve on its currents state. I travel quite a bit and i ruined it (still functional but the black colour has now been ruined) on its first outing. Crazy for something at this price point.

I think unlike the wax jackets I have (still look great 5-10 years on) this has a thicker weave which means it is harder (read impossible) to clean.

2. I like the ideas of the metal buckles (I also ordered the halo straps) . The downside is that without thinking when taking off the pack or putting it on a table if not careful you could easily do a lot of damage. It’s quite hard to say how careful you need to be (the buckles are v solid and weighty) - having used back packs for decades you now need to remind yourself each time you use it that you now need to be very careful about placing it down / taking it off and accidentally hitting something or somebody in the process. Remember the buckles are on straps so it is easy for them to swing about.

Disappointed as wanted to love this but sadly can’t.

Great product… but

OK so I spent £340 on a rucksack. It’s an outrageous sum but hey - buy once, buy quality, right? And tbh I quite like the fact that it does not look like a £340 rucksack. It’s stealthy. And the quality seems high. £340 high? I’m not sure. Wax cotton isn’t kevlar. Kevlar might be cheaper. But that’s not my main beef… I think that for £340 I might have got: (1) much better, more frequent comms relating to the build and delivery of my rucksack. Instead, I got one email way after the 5-working-day promise and nothing more. (2) I wanted my £340 rucksack to come nicely packaged. Maybe with a personal note from the founder (I get that from Frahm, from Spoke, from others) and maybe with a nice box or tissue wrap. Instead, it came on its own, unwrapped, in a brown paper bag. Stealth, taken to the max. In summary, I want some evidence that Wingback cares about me and the £340 I spent on a waxed cotton rucksack. Don’t make me regret it. Instead, verify my choice with some love.

Hi Scott,
Thanks very much for the feedback, constructive criticism is always appreciated and you've brought up some excellent points.

Firstly, thank you for your order, I'm glad you like the product itself!

I appreciate the bag is rather expensive, if we could sell it for less then we would. The fabric and hardware we're using come at a high cost and manufacturing in the UK is something we're very proud of but is also pretty costly.

Regarding communicatication, I agree with you entirely. We've been a lot busier than we ever have been recently and currently only have one staff member dealing with all order fulfillment and customer service. We've been struggling to keep up despite working flat out and it is on the top of my list to grow the team and make sure our service is an equivalent quality as the products we make.

Your pack should have been delivered in a tote bag (and also in the paper mailing sack). If it didn't please let me know and we'll get one out to you asap! Our packaging is minimal by design so as to reduce the amount of stuff that's thrown away immediately after opening, and we try to give the packaging a second life (hence the tote bag decision). I know that isn't necessarily for everyone and finding the correct balance is something I'm currently working on also.

We do very much appreciate your purchase and now, as a customer, we'll look after you for life. If you have any suggestions you think might help us get better or would like to chat any further then please send an email over to hello@wingback.co.uk.

Cheers,
Alasdair, Founder
