Metal: Aerospace grade 303 stainless steel from Europe, CNC machined in Birmingham, UK.

Finish: With a surface 10x harder than stainless steel and incredibly low friction, our Jet Fuel items have a beautiful iridescent blue finish which is scratch resistant to virtually anything you will put in your pocket. With a surface approximately 1 micron thick, the variation in colour comes from minute thickness variations caused by component geometry, allowing the base material to show through.

Fibre: 12-strand ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene cord, 15x stronger than steel by weight

Packaging: Oeko-Tex double thickness cotton sleeve from Poland, Europe.

Finish: Assembled by hand and packaged in London, UK.

Considerations: The Black Steel pen retains all the precision and corrosion-resistant qualities of stainless steel, while the tungsten carbide finish increases the surface hardness 9x. Any marks it picks up from regular use should be easily wiped away. However, the surface is scratch resistant, not scratch proof. Anything harder than the surface (diamond, some ceramics) or really aggressive use will be able to scratch it, which is why we recommend keeping it in its cotton sleeve when not in use, and carrying your diamonds in another pocket.
